CHP to reopen Route 154 this evening

DAILY SOUND STAFF REPORT

CHP officials will reopen State Route 154 to all traffic at 8 p.m. today, and will enforce a strict 45 mph speed limit on the winding highway.
An eastbound passing lane at the Rancho San Marcos Golf Course will be limited to firefighting vehicles, and the right-hand westbound lane at the summit will be used as a turn lane for residential traffic turning right on East Camino Cielo, authorities said.

No traffic will be allowed on Paradise Road past Stagecoach Road or east on Stagecoach Road toward the Cold Spring Arch Bridge. East Camino Cielo is also closed at Painted Cave Road, CHP Spokesman Don Clotworthy said.
“Although S. R. 154 is being reopened, the public is encouraged to continue to take U.S. 101 and stay of S.R. 154 unless absolutely necessary,” Clotworthy said. “For those who do use S.R. 154, delays can be expected due to the reduced speed limit and the continuous movement of slow-moving firefighting vehicles.”
