The Santa Barbara School Districts announced yesterday the appointment of Shirley Corpuz as the district’s Director of Fiscal Services.
For the past two years Corpuz has acted as the district’s accounting coordinator and stepped in as the interim director of fiscal services in July after Robert Wolf resigned from that post.
“Shirley has extensive experience in financial reporting and budgeting,” said district’s Superintendent Brian Sarvis. “She is trusted for her reliable and accurate accounting and her ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.”

In late June, the Santa Barbara School District’s Board of Education approved it’s $119.2 million fiscal year 2007-2008 budget.
During the budget presentation, Edward Diaz, the district’s assistant superintendent of business services, revealed a $4.8 million budget surplus that flew in the face of $2.5 million in budget cuts the board made in April.
The surplus raised a considerable amount of discussion during that days budget hearing, so much so that Diaz stormed out of the board room, refusing to comment to a Daily Sound reporter.
Barbara Keyani, a spokeswoman for the districts, said she couldn’t comment on whether Wolf’s resignation was a result of the budget surplus.
“Anything that’s a personnel matter I can’t go into,” Keyani said.
Keyani did say Wolf was employed with the district slightly less than two years.
Corpuz will be introduced as the new director of fiscal services at the board’s meeting tonight at 7.
