Santa Barbara police are looking into the death of a 45-year-old local homeless woman found near the Milpas Street roundabout at Highway 101, authorities said.
Officers cordoned off the area when they arrived on the scene early this morning, Police Spokesman Paul McCaffrey said. Several other people who spent the night near the roundabout called authorities when they found the body, McCaffrey said.

“We don’t think anything happened during the night that was the direct cause of her death,” McCaffrey told the Daily Sound.
Authorities said the victim, whose name is not being released until her next-of-kin is notified, was fully clothed and did not have any external injuries suggesting violence. McCaffrey said the coroner’s office is planning an autopsy.
