Male stabbed on West Side

An 18-year-old Hispanic male was stabbed on Santa Barbara’s West Side around 10 p.m. last night and rushed to Cottage Hospital.

Police on the scene said the man was stabbed in the 700 block of Wentworth Street and stumbled his way to a residence in the 800 block of Orange Avenue on the corner of Canon Perdido where he was treated for stab wounds. No suspects had been identified as of press time, but Santa Barbara Police Sgt. Gary Wolfe said officers would be on the scene most of the night.
Eye witnesses couldn’t give police a positive ID, but said the stabber was a male, possibly Hispanic, driving a silver van. Wolfe said the victim’s condition was unknown, but “it doesn’t look good.”
A woman, who asked not to be identified, said she had lived in the neighborhood for 10 months and desperately wanted to move. “I can’t wait to move, but I know the Lord put me here for a reason,” the woman said.
Police said more details would come forth this morning, but weren’t prepared to say anything for sure.
