During an early-morning flight to Connecticut yesterday, Santa Barbara Mayor Marty Blum fainted and the airplane she was riding was diverted to Las Vegas, where Blum was examined at a nearby hospital, according to Marcelo Lopez, the city’s administrative services director.
Despite the scare, Lopez said Blum’s husband Joe, who is a physician, reported that his wife appears to be fine.
Lopez said Blum and her husband were traveling to Connecticut for a personal trip when the incident occurred. He said Blum remained in the hospital last night for observation.
