A fight over a woman in Carpinteria on Sunday evening left one man in the hospital with multiple puncture wounds from a screwdriver, Sheriff’s officials said.
Authorities said an 18-year-old man, upset that his ex-girlfriend had been seeing another man, confronted the new couple in the 1300 block of Tomol Drive at around 9:25 p.m.

The teen rode up on his bicycle as the 19-year-old woman and her juvenile companion sat on the curb chatting.
After a verbal confrontation became physical, the juvenile reportedly pulled a screwdriver from his pocket and stabbed the 18-year-old multiple times. Officers responded to the scene found the teen with four puncture wounds to his back and another to his elbow, authorities said. He was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.
Sheriff’s deputies took the juvenile into custody later that evening after he turned himself in, booking the young man into juvenile hall for assault with a deadly weapon.
