Ice cream truck puts freeze on traffic

Two northbound lanes on Highway 101 were closed for a half hour yesterday when an ice cream delivery truck toppled onto its side after being struck by a small car.
Santa Barbara City Fire Capt. Tom Haines said the car likely blew a tire and veered into the truck, which then ended up on its side blocking traffic. He said there were no injuries and no ice cream spilled onto the roadway.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at 12:35 p.m.
“Other than the nuisance of being on the freeway it really turned out to not be a big problem,” Haines said.
