Police nab suspected bank robber

DAILY SOUND STAFF REPORT

Authorities arrested four people in connection with a Santa Barbara bank robbery after the subsequent investigation led them to Valencia, police said.
Officers booked David Patrick Thomas on suspicion of robbery and took three others into custody on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery, Santa Barbara police Lt. Armando Martel said.

Authorities allege Thomas entered the Citibank at 3757 State St. on Saturday at approximately 2 p.m., brandished a handgun and demanded cash from two tellers.
After snagging an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect escaped in a silver Chrysler sedan, police said. A teller managed to jot down the license plate number of the escape vehicle, Lt. Martel said.
That license plate led FBI and Los Angeles sheriff’s deputies to Valencia, where they arrested Thomas and Amy Elizabeth Barbabella. Authorities also recovered a majority of the stolen cash, a replica handgun and clothing suspected of being used during the robbery, Lt. Martel said.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Ruben Carrisales Sr. and Ruben Carrisales Jr. in Carpinteria, authorities said. All four suspects appear to be related, Lt. Martel said.
