Police arrest gunpoint robbery suspects

Authorities have two suspects in custody on suspicion of robbing several Santa Barbara residents at gunpoint in their home more than a month ago, police officials confirmed.
The investigation began on July 22, when officers arrived in the 1800 block of Bath Street after receiving reports of an altercation possibly involving a gun, Sgt. Lorenzo Duarte of the Santa Barbara Police Department said.

In a nearby alley, they found a man holding a handgun and a sword.
The firearm turned out to be a BB gun and the subject turned out to be a victim in a home invasion robbery that occurred moments earlier, Sgt. Duarte said.
After dropping his weapons as ordered, the man led officers to a home on Bath Street, authorities said, where residents described how two suspects had forced their way into the house and robbed them.
Brandishing a handgun, the suspects took electronics from the home and $350 from one of the victims, police said.
“The suspects were scared off when friends of the victims arrived at the front door of the home and when one of the residents of the home confronted the suspects with a sword,” Sgt. Duarte said in an e-mail.
Using surveillance footage from a home security system that captured the robbery on tape, detectives identified Eric Leroy Chandler, 34, of Carpinteria, and Marin Diskant, 26, as suspects, authorities said. Diskant is listed as homeless on her arrest report.
Officers arrested Chandler on Aug. 7 at Santa Barbara County Jail, where he was being held on an unrelated matter. Authorities booked the 34-year-old, who allegedly wielded the handgun during the robbery, in lieu of $100,000 bail for armed robbery.
On Friday, police took Diskant into custody in the 700 block of Cook Avenue after stopping her for driving with expired registration, booking her for conspiracy.
Sgt. Duarte said the investigation is ongoing and more details may be released at a later date.

Why is this coming out now? I know a neighbor who called the police when this happened and they were told that there was nothing to report!
