DAILY SOUND STAFF REPORT

Sept. 25, 3:05 a.m. — A citizen called police after spotting a man jumping the fence at Aqua~Flo Supply, 225 S. Milpas St., and attempting to break into a storage area containing copper pipe. The witness told police the suspect was unable to get in and jumped back over the fence.

Officers found the suspect standing in a nearby parking lot with another man. After finding a shoe print matching the suspect’s sole pattern in the yard, authorities questioned the 46-year-old man.
He initially denied involvement, but eventually admitted to entering the yard to “look around.” Police arrested the man on probable cause of attempted burglary, booking him in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Sept. 25, 9:50 p.m. — Responding to reports of a stolen bicycle, an officer spotted a subject fitting the description of the thief in the 1100 block of E. Montecito Street. The 20-year-old man was standing next to a bicycle matching the description of a bike stolen earlier in the 300 block of E. Haley Street.
As officers approached and told the suspect to take his hands out of his pocket, the man attempted to walk away. Authorities detained him and checked for any weapons, uncovering a steak knife in his pocket.
The victim identified the stolen bicycle, but could not pick the suspect out of a lineup. The suspect refused to speak with police. Authorities booked him in lieu of $20,000 for possession of stolen property and a prohibited weapon.

Sept. 25, 9:55 p.m. — Police arrived in the alleyway behind Something’s Fishy, 500 State St., after receiving reports of an assault in progress. Officers found a 25-year-old man, listed as homeless, with a large knot on his forehead, swelling and blood on his cheek, and abrasions on his elbows and knees.
After declining medical assistance, the victim said two men attacked him and stole his MP3 player. He said he knew the attackers only by their aliases, “Irish” and “Owen.” Officers began searching for the suspects and located both several minutes later in the 500 block of State Street.
After searching both men, police discovered the stolen music player. Authorities booked both suspects, a 30-year-old and a 23-year-old, for robbery and possession of stolen property.

Sept. 26, 6:53 p.m. — During a routine traffic stop of a Ford van in the 500 block of Anacapa Street, officers watched as the driver promptly exited the vehicle and seated himself on the curb shortly after being pulled over. A search of the van revealed heroin, spoons, syringes, tie-offs and wipes.
The 42-year-old Santa Barbara man also tested positive for cocaine and opiates. Authorities took the suspect into custody for possession of heroin, hypodermic needles and drug paraphernalia. They also booked him for being under the influence of a controlled substance and driving under the influence, holding him without bail due to parole violations.

Sept. 28, 5:50 p.m. — Authorities received reports of an intoxicated man disturbing customers and employees in Baja Fresh at La Cumbre Plaza. Officers arrived to find security personnel detaining the 48-year-old in a nearby parking lot. He had slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, mussed clothing and was unable to stand on his own.
During his arrest, the suspect became verbally abusive and spit in the eyes of the arresting officer. After being placed in the squad car, he continued yelling and kicked the windows.
It took several correctional officers to take the suspect into County Jail, where he was booked in lieu of $2,500 bail for public intoxication and battery on a peace officer.
